- and Gîte Potential |

DESCRIPTION OF LOCATION:
Saint Marsal
is a thriving little Catalan village in the Aspres at about
725 meters (2250 ft). There are about 50 inhabitants who
live here all year round and at weekends this rises considerably
as those locals who work or live around Perpignan come up
for the weekend. In summer the village expands yet again
as the holiday homes fill up and the tourists arrive.

SURROUNDINGS
The village is south
facing and has some of the best views of all the villages in the
Aspres. It is half way between the two valleys (Tech and Tet)
- about 12 miles from each.
Saint Marsal has a
boulangerie/general store , a post office, an auberge with 10
rooms and a restaurant, and in the town square, the restaurant
Le Relais Bleu with a full bar license There is also a library
- with some English books - and a school for children from 6 to
11.
There are many village
parties from the Fete du Village the first weekend in August to
the Hunters feast or the giant Paella or the 14 July celebrations
or again the "Gotch" where musicians tour the village
and helpers collect eggs, hams, and anything else. Then everyone
meets for a giant omelette for lunch that carries on through the
evening.
Saint Marsal is about
35 miles from Perpignan, 15 miles from Céret, 12 miles
from Amelie-les-Bains, 33 miles to the coast and 28 miles to Spain.
